new look for the new year!

Hi friends!
We've been largely silent for the past year working away while we redesigned our line of urban paper goods. We're mostly there and almost everything is posted in the shop (there are some placeholder images that should be replaced by the end of the week if the printing gods shine on us!).

L-R: Futura Happy Holidays card, 2019 Holiday card in gold, Peace&Love Holiday card

We're looking forward to starting things off with a sale, our annual sale. We'll post the coupon code here (and pretty much everywhere) on Friday, but for now, take a look at some of our new cards and prints!

L-R: So Much Better Together Valentine card, Happy Birthday Baby card, Best Birthday Wishes card in neon orange.

We've added a bunch of new birthday, valentine and holiday cards (and some prints too!) as well as redesigned some old favorites.

L-R: Redesigned Felix Chevrolet card, Redesigned Harbor/Century Freeway card, Redesigned Randy's Donuts card

We'll also be doing a few shows around Los Angeles this winter, we'll let you the final lineup next week.

L-R: Futura Happy Birthday card, pink ink in the studio, Be Mine Valentine? card in neon pink

Until then, have a great holiday weekend with your friends and family.

Best,
Rosemary+Robin

a new start in the new year

It's hard to believe that this first month of the new year is already over! While we've been hard at work on new designs and new projects it feels like time is just flying by!

We've been spending a lot of time lately thinking about where we are and where we want to be, pretty usual for this time of year. The last three years have been so full! We're so excited for everything that 2016 has in store, starting with another big move! After nearly three years in DTLA, we've been priced out of the area and are looking forward to new digs in a new part of town. For the moment, we're running around looking at spaces while we're printing our hearts out and getting ready to be up to our eyeballs in boxes again.

In the meantime, take a look at what we've been up to on Instagram! We've been having a lot of fun with new cards and old favorites! As well as sharing fun things we come across as we look at listings.

We hope this new year is treating you well!

Best,
Rosemary+Robin

where to find us this winter

It still doesn't feel much like fall here in Southern California, we've been enjoying warm dry days and only somewhat cooler evenings for the past few weeks. But that time of year is right around the corner, in fact it's here already!

Take a quick look at where we'll be popping up over the next few weeks, and if you're in Los Angeles come say hi! We'd love to see you and catch up!

Makers Market // West Elm // Saturday November 28 // 8366 Beverly Blvd. 90048

Our first event of the season is the Makers Market at West Elm on small business Saturday, coordinated by the Academy of Handmade. Come on by to see some of the new items that we'll be previewing and to support the local economy.

You can RSVP here!

Holiday Marketplace // Grand Central Market // December 5-6 // 317 S. Broadway // 9a-6p

We'll also be taking part in the second annual Holiday Marketplace at Grand Central Market in DTLA. We LOVE Grand Central, it's a favorite place to eat out and bring friends and family when they visit. We're really looking forward to spending two whole days there!

We'll also be offering a very special limited edition Grand Central Market neon sign print as well as debuting even more new paper goods. Come say hi and see what we've been working on!

Holiday Pop-Up // LA County Store // December 12-13 // 4333 W. Sunset Blvd. // 12-4p

The third and final event of the season for us this year, will be a pop-up at the lovely Los Angeles County Store in Silverlake! Come say hello and get your letterpress calendars before they disappear in 2016! We will be setting up shop on the Saturday of the two day event.

You can RSVP here!

We're spending lots of time in the studio these days, working on new items that will launch in 2016 as well as printing up some new pieces that we'll have with us this winter.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Best,
Rosemary+Robin

a great weekend at Unique!

Views of the city from the windows behind our Unique LA table.
We had a great time at The Unique USA Summer Market last weekend, thank you to everyone who came to see us, it was so great to see you! And it was so great to meet all sorts of new people and fans. We even had a few Kickstarter supporters who came by to say hi!

L-R: A close up of our silver balloon signage,  our table all set up and ready to go, a corner of our table with our new CB2 business card holder. CB2 West Hollywood moved heaven and earth to get it to us in time for the show, we really appreciate their help!
We had so much fun coming up with our new table display! Everyone responded so well to the silver balloons! It sort of feels like this was our most put together setup so far! Honestly, it wouldn't have been possible without the move to the new press. Now that we're starting to get the hang of printing on the Heidelberg, it's allowed us to print more stock at once and not spend quite so much time trying to play catch-up with demand!

L-R: We tried really hard to attend some of the Unique Classroom talks held as part of the show. We really enjoyed listening to photographer/blogger Bonnie Tsang, Rosemary models her new ceramic necklace from  local artist and maker Nicola Vruwink, we also enjoyed listening to Andrew Gibbs from The Dieline talk about current packaging design trends.
That's not to say that we haven't been super busy! It was a lot of work reprinting our entire line of paper goods for both Renegade and Unique! Everything might look exactly the same, but it isn't! It took us a long time to figure out the best way to print from our hand-carved linoleum blocks. They were purpose-carved for our old printing press and it took a lot of finessing to get them to work on the new press.

L-R: packaging Eastside Neighborhood Postcards, all neighborhood postcards back in stock and on display at Unique, stacks of Westside Neighborhood postcards ready to package. They look so good printed on the new press, it made us positively giddy as they came off the press! Finally, everything is looking the way we always knew it could!
The neighborhood postcards took the longest and we were unable to get them done in time for Renegade. We are happy to say that they are all completely back in stock now, in fact, everything is! And, we were able (by the skin of our teeth!) to add two new cards in time for the show (just barely!).

L-R: Working on our new freeway card of the 10 West as it winds its way through DTLA, proofing for the first time, the finished card now listed in the shop!
Our neon pink letterpress cards were ready for Renegade. Originally an exercise in registration, these bright neon cards have quickly become a favorite. They are available as a single card or a set of four and are now listed in the shop. Also make sure to take a look at our newest freeway card, depicting a portion of the 10 West traveling through downtown. They are also available as a single card or as a set of four. We're already preparing to send a few of these off to some of our favorite stockists. Keep an eye out for them at The Library Store at the Central Library in DTLA!

L-R: Our new prints, Helms Bakery is Culver City, Cinerama Dome in Hollywood and Highland Theatre in Highland Park. They look so good, why didn't we choose these for prints earlier??? :)
We've also made some changes to our prints. We currently offer Helms Bakery (Culver City), The Cinerama Dome (Hollywood) and The Highland Theatre (Highland Park). They are available framed or unframed. Each print is printed in black ink on white Mohawk Superfine paper. The thick black frame measures 9.5" x 12" and features a white mat. The print is registered to fit comfortably within the mat. We'll be adding more prints soon, so stay tuned!

The view from the parking garage at Home Depot in Hollywood, a place we've been spending a lot of time at lately!
We have a few things in the works for the next few weeks, but for the most part we'll be getting to work on our Kickstarter rewards (finally!), printing more stock and meeting wholesale orders.

Have a great end of summer, hopefully we'll see you soon!

Best,
Rosemary+Robin

Ink+Smog Editions at West Coast Craft

Our panoramic view of the Bay from Fort Mason Center as the sun was setting on Sunday night.
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to see us this past weekend at the West Coast Craft show in San Francisco. We had such a great time catching up with old friends, visiting with family and meeting so many new and interesting people! These events are a lot of work, but they are so worth it!

Our WCC booth, including the amazing wall built for us just for the event!
Not only was this the very first WCC show, it was also our very first show on the road. We wrote a guest blog post about our experience for Academy of Handmade, you can take a look at it here. You can also check out some great photos of the event taken by SF Art Enthusiast.

L-R: Some of our new Bay Area items, some additions to the Greetings from… series, Neon Signs of the Bay Area and I Heart SF flat note card sets.
Since we were going to be in the Bay Area, we decided to launch some of the new designs we've been working on a little early! We now have a collection of Bay Area neon sign cards, as well as a variety of other Bay Area and San Francisco specific cards and prints. We should be listing them in the shop very soon!

L-R: Abacus Row, A Question of Eagles, Elyse Graham.
All in all, our first show away from home was a resounding success and we can't wait to do it again!

Hope everyone is having a great fall, we're certainly enjoying the foggy rainy days here in L.A.!

a lot going on

We're working really hard, getting ready for Unique LA this weekend, Renegade next weekend and then Eastside Handmade at the beginning of August.
Some of our new cards launching at Unique and Renegade, our new neon cards and the new versions of our freeway cards without borders.
We have a number of new designs launching as well as the debut of our line of prints, both framed and unframed. We're also taking the opportunity to officially re-launch a few of our favorite designs. The freeway cards have gotten a bit of a makeover and we're bringing back our neon sign cards in black and white and in neon! We'll be listing everything in the shop shortly after Renegade.
L-R: our new letterpress summer cards and our new packaging, the aftermath of our card folding party, stamping paper bags for Unique and Renegade (we LOVE our new logo stamp!!!)
Our friend Robert Turek has also been working on a new display for us, we are so incredibly excited to see it for the first time tomorrow and to make use of it this weekend at Unique. (Here's a quick picture he sent us late last night!)

We're also working on a few longer term projects that we're incredibly excited about. We can't wait to tell you about them, so stay tuned! (A great way to do that is to join our email mailing list here).

L-R: Our stock for the shows, we're not done yet but we're getting there!, our pretty ice cream letterpress block while printing our strawberry cards, Robin taking a quick nap while printing.
There's definitely a lot going on these days, it's a little overwhelming sometimes, and we can't wait to start getting a little more sleep. But it's also really exciting (ok, we know, we've said that a lot in this post, we promise to be more eloquent once we've made it through the crazy!)
L-R: Our Hello Summer! letterpress cards and working on our Norm's Santa Monica block, one of our new line of prints that come both framed and un-framed.
Hope you're all having a great summer! It's actually raining here in L.A., the first summer rain we've seen since we moved here. It's really strange!

That's all for now,

Rosemary+Robin

stop by and say hi!

This weekend we went to the vendor meetup for UniqueLA's summer show. We thought that was the perfect excuse to remind the world that we're working on some new items to launch at UniqueLA on July 13+14 and Renegade the week after. Why not stop by and say hi, we'll be at booth #308 at Unique and booth #80 at Renegade!
