We're so excited to take part in the first Kickstarter Film Fest in LA! Come see us and a selection of other successful Los Angeles Kickstarter projects at the Autry at Griffith Park! Then hang out and enjoy the screening of LA Kickstarter film projects! The event is free and open to the public. Enter on the event lawn, next to the museum. Don't forget to take a look at our Kickstarter project! It's hard to believe that we filmed that video last summer, it feels like yesterday!

We're also very happy to say that we will be participating in Eastside Handmade once again! We very lucky to have been one of the handful of vendors to have participated in every single Eastside Handmade event so far! Come say hi! We'll be hanging out in the parking lot behind Shopclass in Highland Park!

We're looking forward to these great events and are in the middle of planning a few more! Hope to see you soon!

sorry for the radio silence!

It's hard to believe that April is already half over and May is almost on it's way! We've been very busy setting the agenda for what is left of the year, slowly getting the new studio up and running around with some lovely guests from out of town!

L-R: Our new addition wish list for this year, lilacs at the Hollywood Farmer's Market, sketching new card ideas.
It's always nice to sit down and talk about the designs we want to introduce next. It's especially fun to start sketching some of those ideas out! We've been working on some of these ideas for over a year, just waiting for everything to fall into place. It's been so hard to keep some of our new ideas under wraps, we're really really excited about some of the cards coming up!

L-R: a very full drying rack, getting some wholesale orders ready to ship, a corner of our studio in the sun.
Along with our regular Etsy orders, we've also had some wholesale orders keeping us busy lately as well as keeping our drying rack pretty full. We can't wait to announce some new stockists very soon! It's been challenging trying to meet these deadlines before we've transitioned to the new press. It's so tantalizing to think about how much less time it would take! But alas, there's just a little more work to do before we can plunge headlong into the future!

L-R: Wildflowering LA Site #38, Site #44, Site #38 again.
Rosemary's mother Nancy is also visiting from Montreal and we're having a great time running around Los Angeles doing the things you only get around to doing when you have guests visiting from out of town! The two of them headed off to the deLaB (design East of La Brea) tour of two of the Wildflowering LA sites as part of their Making LA Series. If you haven't checked out Fritz Haeg's project commissioned by LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division) in collaboration with the Theodore Payne Foundation that sowed 50 participating yards across Los Angeles with native wildflower seeds, you should! If you head over to their website, they offer a map for self-guided tours of all of their sites. Hurry though, before the weather turned too hot and the flowers start to go to seed!

L-R: Everyone's favorite letterpress ice cream cards, Eastside Handmade display ideas, our bottle jack press.
We've also been getting ready for the spring edition of Eastside Handmade in Highland Park on Saturday April 19th from 11am-4pm. It's kind of crazy that we officially launched Ink+Smog Editions at this show a year ago, it seems like yesterday! This will probably be one of the last chances to get your hands on stock printed on our handmade bottle jack press! We'll be transitioning over to the new equipment very soon and as a result, we'll be offering some discounts on our holiday collection as well as bringing back some old favorites like our letterpress ice cream cone cards.

So hopefully we'll see you this weekend!

Best,
Rosemary+Robin

where to find us this winter

Ink+Smog Editions is going through some major changes right now, but if you're going to be in L.A. this winter, come say hi, we'd love to see you!

Unique LA Holiday Show // December 7+8 // California Market Center 110 E. 9th st. DTLA

Table # 114

Eastside Handmade // December 7 12-5pm // Hosted by Shopclass in Highland Park

Renegade Holiday Show // December 14+15 //  Los Angeles State Historic Park

We're literally in the middle of moving into our new studio right now, and our new equipment is about to start it's cross-country journey, so we'll probably have lots to talk about during these great holiday shows. We're really excited about all the changes and can't wait to share them!

Also, we'll be launching our Kickstarter campaign in a matter of days. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. If you can't contribute financially, please share our project on your social media, every little bit helps!

Hoping to see you soon!

currently in production

We've had a very busy summer full of craft shows, pop-up shops and a lot of running around. It's been exciting, exhausting and edifying! Now that we've made it through, we're really enjoying taking the time to get back into the studio and work on some new projects.

We've just listed some new cards that we launched at the Summer edition of the  Eastside Handmade pop-up shop in Highland Park last weekend. We added some new neighborhoods to our sets of City Greetings cards. We now offer Echo Park, Highland Park, Culver City, Santa Monica and Silver Lake as well as Los Angeles. We'll be adding some more neighborhoods and cities soon, so stay tuned!

We've also been busy reprinting our set of Los Angeles Westside postcards that we're nearly out of stock (literally, we had one last set left that we found mixed in with another neighborhood!). We've had a great response from our neighborhood postcards, everyone seems to get a real kick out of sharing hyper-local snapshots of their corner of the world.

It's been fun to revisit some of our older designs while we get to work on our winter holiday collection. The Venice card in particular has been a beast for us to print in the past, so much so that we were actually considering changing the design after our current stock sold out. However, when we got it on the press the other day, by some miracle, it printed like a dream! We aren't questioning what happened, we think it's mostly because we changed inks, but who knows as long as it works!

We've also added some prints to the shop, we're offering three limited editions of 100 signed prints of the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, the Sun-Lake Drugs building in Silver Lake and the Norm's from Santa Monica that closed recently. We're offering them as framed and unframed prints. Once we've sold out our full run of 100, we'll add a new design.

We're also working on some other projects that aren't quite ready for prime time yet, we're getting really excited and can't wait to tell everyone about it. Fingers crossed we'll be able to tell you soon! We hope you're having a great summer, here in L.A. it's been cooler than last summer, we'll see what the fall brings!

thank you!

UniqueLA and Renegade were great shows, thank you to everyone who came by and said hi over the past two weekends. It was great catching up with old friends and meeting new ones. It was especially fun to meet some of our Instagram followers and blog readers in person!

our booth setup at Unique LA at the Barker Hangar at Santa Monica Airport
We had such a great time at both shows, we're already looking forward to the winter shows in December (PS. we're hard at work on our Winter edition cards, they should be in production soon so stay tuned to Instagram for some sneak peeks!).

our booth setup at Renegade at Los Angeles State Historic Park
We didn't have much of a chance to wander the aisles at either show, but we were paired with Abacus Row, a great booth partner at Unique, and totally fell in love with her delicate jewelry. Rosemary picked up a California Love ring from Honey My Heart and finally picked out a freeway from L.Makai's Commuter Collection, she's been coveting one of these since the UniqueLA spring show. We also chose some amazing prints from Krank Press and Power and Light Press, we can't wait to get them up on the wall!

L-R: Abacus Row at Unique, California Love ring from Honey My Heart, the 110 Freeway from L.Makai's Commuter Collection, bird print from Krank Press and California state print from Power and Light Press.
It was really hot both weekends, but this past weekend was especially hot and humid, it even rained a bit (a rarity for Southern California!). We couldn't have gotten through it all without the amazing popsicles from Front Porch Pops, we have to admit we tried a few of their flavors, but loved their roasted peach popsicles the best!

cooling down with Front Porch Pops popsicles, they were soooooo good!
We're taking a few days off to relax, take care of life things and work on some big projects that we have coming up soon, then we'll be back at work so that we can replenish the things that sold out in time for Eastside Handmade at Shopclass on York in Highland Park August 10 from 3-10pm as part of NELA art walk. If you have a chance, stop by and say hi, it's such a great collection of makers and sellers, we're so happy to take part again!

We hope you're enjoying your summer so far!
See you soon,

Rosemary+Robin

a lot going on

We're working really hard, getting ready for Unique LA this weekend, Renegade next weekend and then Eastside Handmade at the beginning of August.
Some of our new cards launching at Unique and Renegade, our new neon cards and the new versions of our freeway cards without borders.
We have a number of new designs launching as well as the debut of our line of prints, both framed and unframed. We're also taking the opportunity to officially re-launch a few of our favorite designs. The freeway cards have gotten a bit of a makeover and we're bringing back our neon sign cards in black and white and in neon! We'll be listing everything in the shop shortly after Renegade.
L-R: our new letterpress summer cards and our new packaging, the aftermath of our card folding party, stamping paper bags for Unique and Renegade (we LOVE our new logo stamp!!!)
Our friend Robert Turek has also been working on a new display for us, we are so incredibly excited to see it for the first time tomorrow and to make use of it this weekend at Unique. (Here's a quick picture he sent us late last night!)

We're also working on a few longer term projects that we're incredibly excited about. We can't wait to tell you about them, so stay tuned! (A great way to do that is to join our email mailing list here).

L-R: Our stock for the shows, we're not done yet but we're getting there!, our pretty ice cream letterpress block while printing our strawberry cards, Robin taking a quick nap while printing.
There's definitely a lot going on these days, it's a little overwhelming sometimes, and we can't wait to start getting a little more sleep. But it's also really exciting (ok, we know, we've said that a lot in this post, we promise to be more eloquent once we've made it through the crazy!)
L-R: Our Hello Summer! letterpress cards and working on our Norm's Santa Monica block, one of our new line of prints that come both framed and un-framed.
Hope you're all having a great summer! It's actually raining here in L.A., the first summer rain we've seen since we moved here. It's really strange!

That's all for now,

Rosemary+Robin

what a full and wonderful weekend we had!

Things have been very busy here at Ink+Smog, we've been working on a lot of new projects, some for the shop and others for custom orders. On saturday we had the opportunity to debut some of our new designs at Eastside Handmade in Highland Park hosted by Shopclass

L-R: Rosemary standing at the Ink+Smog table, our summer edition letterpress ice cream cards, the view from our table at Eastside Handmade.
It was great to meet so many fun and creative people. These kinds of events are a wonderful way to meet up with people we haven't seen in a while like Cathy Callahan from Cathy of California and Stephanie from Ok Universe, to finally meet people we'd only ever met online like Carrie from Anemone LetterpressElinor from Krank Pressand Erin from Cotton & Flax and to meet new people like Crystal from BlendBlend. There was so much great work, and the weather mostly cooperated, we're looking forward to more Eastside Handmade events in the future!

L-R: COVET! one of our favorite pieces in the new collection, the invitation for Kat and Roger at Platform, the collection!
After Eastside Handmade on Saturday, we walked down the street to visit our friends Kat and Roger of K&R. They were launching their new collection at Platform on York Blvd. The collection looks fantastic and we have to say, we are working on making some room in the kitchen cupboards for a piece or two...

L-R: our new Eastside Postcard collection, the Ink+Smog logo rendered in chalk by Robin, our notecard sets.
The rest of the weekend was spent working on a big custom order we're trying to get out by the end of this week. It's been a great project to work on, with many twists and turns. We're looking forward to writing a blog post about it once it's all finished and sent on it's merry way to our customer in France. We also made some time for a much needed catching up session and business consultation with Anne, Rosemary's sister who runs the amazing soap empire Dot&Lil in Montreal.  It was a very full but wonderful weekend. We're working on some really fun projects right now, looking forward to sharing them soon!
